Behind The Scenes...

For every wildlife casualty/orphan that we end up transporting, there's 3 more that I accept messages from - from members of the public who can drive - who just want advice on what to do...

Over the last few days alone I have spoken to finders with a female blackbird, a fledgling blackbird & a fledgling magpie: I told them their nearest Rescue, I made sure that they contacted the Rescue for advice and/or just got the bird to the Rescue ASAP. In the case of the fledgling blackbird (who was sadly one of 2, along with the female blackbird, who were too injured to be saved) I spoke to a vet practice to also book in the little bird to be seen AND, because the Vet Practice wasn't too confident with wildlife, but still really wanted to help, I got them the advice they needed - from a Wildlife Rescue - on exactly how to assess the bird and what medications it might need...

In total, these bits of advice added up to almost 5hrs of calls and checking of maps/databases etc. Every little life matters. They're worth every minute...
