'Preparing For Spring' Fundraiser

My name's Alana, I founded and run UKWT.

Alana.jpg
We're expecting 2026 to be our busiest year EVER.  We started 2025 with 35 Drivers Teams - and helped 793 animals to emergency care - and we're starting 2026 with 53 Drivers Teams now, so I am expecting it to be a very busy year, with a possible prediction of over 1000 wildlife casualties & orphans got to emergency care / a second chance). 💚

-------

Our Fundraising Target to get us prepped for Spring (to raise ASAP) is: £7972.20

[The total fundraising target above covers: our running costs & some pop up costs - fuel & vet fees etc - until end of April 2026, £1000 for Drivers Adverts to double our Database before April & £430 to fund our Driver ID kits, that all Drivers are going to have, from Spring onwards.]

-------

This is our UKWT quiet season (December to March) during which we have a bit more time to focus on keeping going & growing - making sure we’re working to fill in all of the transport gaps in the UK, bit by bit - and making sure that we’re ready to say ‘yes’ to every transport request that comes in, during the Spring/Summer craziness.

🎉 A reminder of our plans/work in advance of Spring 2026:

  • Growing our Driver Database up to 500 Drivers (almost double our current number).

  • Setting up Drivers Teams for more Wildlife Rescues.

  • Setting up Drivers Teams for as many Vet Practices as we can, across the UK (to help them, especially during Spring/Summer, to move wildlife on from their Practices to their nearest Rescues, for ongoing care).

-------

❤️ What will these plans achieve, come Spring?

  • Almost doubling our Driver Database will help us to, hopefully, ALWAYS be able to say ‘yes’ to transport requests for wildlife casualties/orphans, so that they can always get to the emergency care that they need (and hopefully get a second chance at a life back out in the wild).

  • Setting up new Drivers Teams for Wildlife Rescues means that more Rescues will have enough Drivers to send out to pick up wildlife casualties/orphans from members of the public who can’t transport themselves (ensuring that those animals don’t die in people’s homes/workplaces, just because they can’t be got to emergency care).

  • Setting up new Drivers Teams for as many Vet Practices as possible has, possibly, our BIGGEST impact… It can be very difficult for busy Vet Practices, however much they care about wildlife, to treat wildlife casualties (and not just euthanase on arrival) because the casualty will always need to be moved onto a Rescue Centre for longer term rehab afterwards.  By providing Vets with their own list of local Volunteer Transport Drivers (recruited, equipped & funded by UKWT) we support Vets to treat wildlife and then move them out of the Practice site, instead of thinking that their only logistical option is to ‘Put To Sleep.’

-------

👏  We need to fund all of this work and we only have 3 months to make it all happen.  Once Spring hits, we'll just be rolling from transport to transport (up to 20 transports a day) so we need to get prepared NOW.

'GETTING PREPARED' ONLINE EVENT OR E-BOOKLET

The aim of this event is to make sure that you're prepared to help a wildlife casualty/orphan (when one almost inevitably appears at some point in your life) so that it is a speedy and rewarding experience, for yourself and hopefully the animal too.

*Attendees get a copy of a 17 page E-Booklet with all of the info featured in the event - so that they always have it to hand - AND a personalised digital certificate emailed to them after the event.  Ticket prices are 'pay what you choose' (suggested amount £10).

OR...  If you click the other button below, you can instead purchase an E-Booklet for immediate download from our Ko-Fi Shop: the same 17 page E-Booklet that advises on how to be prepared in case you find a wildlife casualty & exactly what to do you if you find one...
