Some Of Our 2026 Transports, Thus Far...

This little Chap...
  • On 9th January, the fantastic Steph rushed out to pick up this little guy (who is now doing great & getting better, at the time of typing this) to get him to Hedgehog Helpline, in South Wales: he was delivered into the caring hands of Sarah Liney. He was only 340 grams on arrival & had roundworm.

2 more spiky people...
  • UKWT can act as an important link between Wildlife Rescues, moving casualties between them if one has more space or more time to provide specialist care. On 31st January, Joanne at Runcorn Hoganation Hedgehog Rescue helped out a fellow local Rehabber, who was unwell, by taking 7 hedgehogs from her, into her own Rescue. Not having the space for all 7, Joanne had agreed with Irene, at Lowton Hedgehog Rescue, in advance, that 2 would be moved on straight away to her. Catherine & Sophie each picked up a male Hedgehog & got them to Irene's for ongoing care.

Mulan (the only stray cat we have ever transported)...
  • 2026 has begun with some unusual transports for us: a little pet Rat (see below) a cockatiel & this feline stunner, called Mulan.

In January, I decided to help this feline youngster as she just happened to be relatively close to a Rescue that we work with a lot for wildlife, but who help Cats too. [This will be our LAST domestic transport however, as we are already extremely busy keeping up with just the wildlife demand and there are so many wonderful people out there who already transport cats/dogs and other sweet animals].

❤️ So… This stunning stray cat, Mulan, came onto our radar and after getting advice from a Cat Rescue (and making sure that the Finder had indeed done all of the checks to confirm that she was a stray) we agreed to transport, because she was pregnant and needed somewhere safe to have her babies ASAP.

It was serendipitous that one of our UKWT Drivers in the area also used to run her own branch of a Cat Rescue & knew just how to transport her in the calmest conditions possible. Without that assurance I was very nervous that we had begun to overstep our expertise. Thankfully, thanks to the fantastic Driver, Liz, little Mulan was picked up and transported to Celandine Wood Animal Rescue, where she will have a safe place to give birth and raise her own youngsters. Celandine is run by a brilliant Vet, called Sharon, whom UKWT has also helped wildlife with, in collaboration, since we started.

A pet Rat...
  • On 11th January, Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital asked us if we could transport this beautiful Rat, who had ended up in their care, from them to the RSPCA Stubbington Ark. Our very kind Driver, Martin, drove him there. He's now going to be found a fantastic home, to live his best life in.

Another Hedgehog in need...
  • It's definitely the time of year to be helping lots of hedgehogs...

On 9th January this perfect person was picked up from a member of the public, by 1 of our brilliant Drivers, Kevin, and taken to Lowton Hedgehog Rescue, for emergency care.
