A Transport Case Example (Ensuring Help In Remoter Areas)...

This isn’t a photo of the actual duckling we tried to help on the morning of the 28th April '25 (I don’t want to upset the Finder by using their picture) but I want to share an example of the kind of structure in remote areas that I am trying to set up & how it would work…

I was made aware of a duckling that had been found alone on a main road. The Finder had done everything right to give the little one a chance. Before the little one sadly passed away they seemed uninjured and perky. Anglesey & North Wales have a slight deficit of Wildlife Rescues that we currently work with, especially for birds. [We work with the brilliant Anglesey Hedgehog Rescue, for hedgehogs.]
The duckling was booked into a vet practice to see a wildlife experienced vet at 11:15, to ensure that there weren't any reasons not to transport them onto a rescue across the border into England.
2 Drivers (thank you Helen Thomas & Ada Haygarth for being willing and able to help) were ready to do a relay to get the little one from the vets, Bennett Williams in Anglesey - who had booked the little one in at no charge - to RSPCA Stapeley Grange, who had already confirmed that they had space.
[Medivet Heswall had also very kindly offered to take the little one in, but had no other ducklings at the time.]
Sadly the little one passed away just before being taken to the 11:15 vet consultation, but I'm pleased that in a very remote area, we were able to piece together a plan of action to give the duckling a second chance, should the little one have been well enough to benefit from it. There will be other equally amazing wild lives, whom we can help, moving forward.
