WILL YOU BE A MONTHLY DONOR?

EVEN IF IT'S £1 A MONTH, HERE'S WHAT YOUR MUCH APPRECIATED DONATION WILL BE FUNDING.

OUR INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT WORK BOTH EMPOWERS AND BACKS UP THE EQUALLY IMPORTANT WORK OF VET PRACTICES & WILDLIFE RESCUES NATIONWIDE...

  • You will be funding...  Our online platforms & communication services: our website, data storage (we have a VAST specialist Google Drive of maps and spreadsheets featuring Vets, Rescues & Drivers) emails and phones (by investing in our online platforms, you are making sure that wildlife casualties across the UK GET to Wildlife Rescues & Vets AND you ensure that they're treated by Vet Professionals/Rehabbers with the right premises & knowledge to help them too).  Our website also serves 100s of members of the public who visit our website because they have found wildlife casualties and they use our 'Transport Map' to find local, high welfare Wildlife Rescues (with UKWT Drivers) to help the animal in question.

  • You'll be contributing to...  Fuel reimbursement, animal carriers & disinfectant for our Wildlife Transport Drivers AND you'll be helping us to run Driver Recruitment Adverts.

Without your support, we simply cannot operate and we are the ONLY organisation in the UK who is uniting & providing transport links between Vets & Wildlife Rescues nationwide (to better help wildlife, together).

  • Very importantly - and absolutely uniquely...  We at UKWT are also delivering (by email) 'Wildlife Casualty How To Guides' to General Vet Practices across the UK.  These have been developed and drawn up by wildlife specialist Vets and our UKWT Admin Team are sending out these 'How To Guides' (from the desks of those specialist Vet Professionals themselves, on their behalf) into the hands of literally 100s of General Practice Vet Professionals across the whole of the UK.

You can read a brief overview on the whys & wherefores below but to provide a bit more detail...  Those Vet Professionals who receive the 'Vet Wildlife Support Package' - the collection of these 'How To Guides' - have often had no prior wildlife training but they will now be able to use these 'How To Guides' to save as many of the furry, feathery, scaly, spiky lives that get dropped into their practices as possible).

This Vet Wildlife Support Package was created by UKWT Founder (and Wildlife Care Badge Co-Founder) Alana, who - in working with wildlife Vets across the UK for UKWT and the WCB - discovered that a number of them had created these 'How To Guides' (for General Vet Practices to specifically use, to treat wildlife) but almost no one knew about them and even the different Vet Professionals who had created them didn't know about each others' efforts.  As Alana had worked with General Vet Practices nationwide for two years, she realised how much these How To Guides could help these Vet Practices to treat wildlife, so Alana got permission from each Vet professional (and in one case, the Born Free Organisation) to make them into a package and so created the VWSP.  As we at UKWT are already in contact with Vet Practices across the UK (setting up bespoke Drivers Lists for each of them) it was easy to add the offering of the VWSP to our daily admin task and to our regular communications.

  • To sum up...  Our crucial behind the scenes work to fill up the knowledge gap amongst Vet Professionals - by getting the VWSP out there - as well as the transport support that we provide to Wildlife Rescues & Vets across the UK, saves 100s of wild lives a week.  Please help us to keep saving these 100s of lives (and more, as we continue to grow)!

SUPPORTING VETS BY TRANSPORTING WILDLIFE CASUALTIES OUT OF THEIR PRACTICES AND ACROSS TO WILDLIFE RESCUES

(NATIONWIDE)

It can be very difficult for busy Vets Practices to treat wildlife casualties (and not just euthanase on arrival) because the casualty will always need to be moved onto a Rescue Centre for longer term rehab afterwards.  By providing Vets with their own list of local Volunteer Transport Drivers (recruited, equipped & funded by UKWT) we support Vets to treat wildlife and then move them out of the Practice site instead of thinking that their only logistical option is to ‘Put To Sleep.’

VET WILDLIFE SUPPORT PACKAGE

(NATIONWIDE)

As we at UKWT already have a nationwide network of Vets (that we are continuing to grow) that we are setting up Drivers Lists for, it made sense to support the work of the WCB by including this package in our communications - offering it to Vets nationwide - so that Vet Practices can start to use the 'How To Guides' to save as many of the wild lives being dropped into them as possible.Read on...

When one of UKWT's partners (the Wildlife Care Badge) was in development, it became known - through discussions - that a number of the wildlife specialist Vet Professionals who were contributing to the WCB had also created helpful 'How To Guides' to specifically support 'General Practice Vets' in Practices to treat wildlife casualties.  These 'How To Guides' (pdfs and videos) have been united into the 'Vet Wildlife Support Package'.

As only 1% of Vets leave school with any wildlife training (and each wild species requires specialist care) making the VWSP accessible/available nationwide will make a huge difference to many wild lives: it could ensure that 1000s of wildlife casualties (who are dropped into Vets Practices, by members of the public) are successfully treated instead of being euthanased due to lack of knowledge/support.

RECRUITING, EQUIPPING & FUNDING 100S OF VOLUNTEER DRIVERS:  ALLOCATING THEM TO DRIVE FOR WILDLIFE RESCUES SO THAT EVERY WILDLIFE CASUALTY (EVEN IF IT’S FOUND BY SOMEONE WITHOUT ACCESS TO A VEHICLE) CAN BE BROUGHT IN FOR URGENT MEDICAL CARE THAT SAME DAY

(NATIONWIDE)

Up to 3 out of every 10 wildlife casualties found in the UK can end up passing away purely because they couldn't be transported to Rescues/Vets/Rehabbers quickly enough/at all...  UKWT was set up to fill this gap and covers the whole of the UK, making sure that Wildlife Rescues have enough Volunteer Drivers (recruited, equipped & funded by UKWT) to send them out to pick up wildlife casualties from members of the public who have found poorly/injured wildlife but who can’t drive/don’t have access to a vehicle.
